I finally found the perfect crossbody!

I have been endlessly searching for years for that perfect crossbody - and I have finally found it! The Shinjuku is the perfect size, shape and weight with pockets/divides in all the right places. The superior quality is obvious as soon as you take the bag in your hands! And the cherry on top is that it is made by a small business! After using it for just one day, I ordered a second one in a different color!

Great kit for an overdone iPad mini setup

The Shinjuku Crossbody is designed for iPad mini but (barely) large enough to hold an 11-inch iPad Pro, so it inspired me to see what kind of iPad mini setup I could carry. Hoo boy.

In the bag right now are my iPad mini, a Logitech Keys-To-Go 2 keyboard, a little stand, and an Apple Magic Trackpad. Plus my wallet, keys, AirPods, glasses case, eye drops, a pen, and still more room for things. The bag is comfortably expandable without feeling too bulky. A person who really likes using an iPad mini is well advised to choose this bag.

A couple of minor quibbles, though. First, wearing the bag crossbody from right shoulder to left hip places the buckle and tri-glide behind the wearer. This could be fixed by either (1) Waterfield offering a choice in strap orientation or (2) a switchable strap design like on the new Versus Gaming Sling. And second, because the strap is made of seat belt material, it slides very easily — great when you need to swing it around, not so great when you're walking with the bag behind you and all of a sudden it's beside you. A grippy shoulder pad is recommended to help keep the bag where you want it.

Still, I've been looking for an iPad mini bag that offers a little more space for when I want to carry all the things, and this one does that beautifully. I'm very impressed.

TRADITIONAL 15 OZ. WAXED CANVAS

 

Not all waxed canvas bags are created equal. Lower quality bags use 6 oz. canvas. The majority designated as “durable” use 12 oz. canvas. At 15 oz., our waxed canvas exceeds what is commonly sold in the market, yet it's still lightweight. Its naturally rugged, distressed look and can be re-waxed to freshen it up. 

We source our canvas from a reputable U.S. mill that has produced these fabrics since 1930. This specialized textile is coated with Martexin Original Wax™ and shouldn't require much cleaning. Stains can be wiped off with a damp cloth. 

HOW TO FRESHEN UP CANVAS


If you have the Shinjuku Crossbody in traditional waxed canvas, you can keep it looking like new by applying wax when you think it needs a little refresh. Although you can use any wax, you may want to try Martexin Original Wax™ which was initially used to coat your canvas bag.
